Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?
It is so important for a health professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically so that they do their very bests to help their patients. It is surely important to understand what the patient is suffering from be able to know the root cause, and have a knowledge of the patient’s history and at times the persons current life. The professional must be patient, calm and be able to work with client with loving-kindness and without negativity. This will make it easy to educate the client about the best methods of healing and encouraging them to promote their bodies to self healing. Taking time to advise them of alternative medicines, holistic, meditation, yoga and all other methods they can also try to use for treatments since prescriptions and surgery are not the only best methods of treatments; since they have known side effects.
Personally I need to continue to develop the all-round /physically, spiritually psychologically, health at a high level, because I am a Health and Wellness Professional too. The health professions must grow in their positive attitude so that the people see in general and reaching a satisfying and gratifying accomplishment.
This has been one of my best classes
II Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?
My assessment of my spiritual health is that I am very okay. I have found love in Christ and I have peace and have comfort. When depressed and stressed I take shield in Him. When confused He leads me in the greener pastures where everything is simplified. I am on a scale of 8 to 10.
Physically: I am trying my very best, but at the present time I have some limitations and when I am better I will increase my activities. My working schedule is worse than ever, but I am not complaining as it could be worse with no work. I have a tight school schedule with two classes, and two high school kids. I rate myself at 5 to 10
Psychologically:
Oh; I have a whole lot to work on this section. I think it is difficult for me; because I am tired most of the time. Each time I try to meditate I find myself sleeping or my mind will start wandering thinking of the other things that I have to do, or the assignments I have not finished. I have to learn to control my mind and must also learn to rest myself, My doctor has been constantly telling me to sleep because I cannot sleep right now. I will have time to sleep when I finish school and graduated, I rate myself at 3 to 10
III Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
My goal for my physical self would be to lose approximately (70) seventy pounds. I am over weight and it is a must to do it before it is too late. I am in a health and wellness program and for me to be able to help others I have to be an example to them and when I tell them how to do it I will be talking from experience. I have no excuses now because I have all the knowledge and information about what is good health and what is bad health. (Weight watcher.com)
My goal on psychological self is to keep on working on how to control the depression, stress, anxiety, and being able to say no when I cannot help. I must be able to distinguish between things I can change and things I not. To those thing I can change then work hard to improve them and those I cannot change I must not let them worry me and must accept and should go on with my life in peace. Letting go will be my other major task too. I want to be able to control my emotions instead of reacting to situations, (Schlitz, Amorok & Micozzi, 2005)
My goal for my spiritual self is to find peace with the Lord. I will be working on learning being a good listener, loving-kindness, forgive and forget, and should not always put self first. I will learn more on how to solve problems without conflicts as it is said two wrongs do not make a right.
IV Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.

Strategies for physical:
Strategies for physical growth are easy for me to determine, will be adding training to the short non strainus exercises and working a little bit more. I love dancing to traditional dances on CDs, DVDs, or on those that are done on the TV shows. I will do the workouts to the best of my ability. I will add biking, squats, hula hoop, rope skipping and walking. (Waehner, 2005) “Exercise also releases hormones, such as endorphins, and helps a person feel more energized, says Dr. Patricia Davidson, cardiologist at Washington Hospital Center in Northwest” (Washington Times). I will always try and eat healthy foods, drink more water; more fruits and less take a ways. Reduce in between eating and snacking and no soda. Most preferable, will be organic foods.
Strategies for psychological growth:
I have been trying to determine the strategies for psychological growth , it is a bit hard for me, I would like to work on meditation, listening to all the tapes that we were practicing in the class. I will be learning to sit up quietly, learning to control my mind so it does not wander all over when meditation. I need to be able to focus at one thing at a time and finish the practice without being disturbed. I will try and do these exercises in the morning before going to work or before going to bed. I am trying to teach my children who to do it but I have to be able to do it first. Once I master how to do them I will be a step forward in keeping my body, mind and spirit as one.
Strategies for spiritual growth:
My easiest strategies are implementing spiritual growth, I have to go to church and meet with others and help each other in understanding the Bible. Learning to be good citizens, and teaching each other about the Ten Commandments as these are the key to a safe world, families, friends and workmates even strangers. I like nature, hearing birds singing, see the rivers’ water flow, and all that is in them, including the seas and oceans, follow the seasons as the change and being able to be in the garden. This really makes my spirit grow. There is no one else with this might power to control the universe without any charges. Gods’ love is free and fresh to everyone how likes to have it. Prayer is the key, believing that once we grow in Loving-kindness, forgive and forget and remove the "me first or the self.” These exercises make me connected to everyone despite color, race, nationality and all the little bits most of us waste time worrying about... I believe we are all one. No one has ever chosen the color they want, the language, and part of the world one has to belong. God made everyone in his image and it is nice to realize that He is the only Almighty. My spirit has grown every day and will continue to grow; looking things very differently than before...I will continue to be very positive minded and pray hard to let go the negative thoughts and all its evils.
V Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
I have started writing down my plans and wishes for everyday. I will make realistic goals, with no overstressing, and no wild goals, and work with reality. I have been a member for YMCA and hope to continue going there. In our area we have a group called Take Charge and I will go with my two children. I will be tracking the journal to see if I will have managed my goal for the week. If I fail on a certain week I will not give up but just get up and continue. I will also write down the things I have to pray for in order to forgive and forget. Whenever I have a negative mind I will put it down and pray about it and will include fasting too.
In order to maintain my long –term practices for health and wellness I will ask for assistance from others. I will tell my friends so that they can help me to reach my goals of losing 70 pounds as soon as I can; in the right way and not to get it back. I will continue with my Take charge clinic, YMCA and our little neighborhood club. When it comes to health issues, I will try the holistic methods, alternative methods, meditation and other methods. I will cut down on the doctor visit where possible or depending with the illness or disease I will be having but cutting down on medications that have side effects… and at times give time to my body to heal itself. Healthy eating, health mind, and good night sleep will make best of me.
Overall, to know whether these methods are effective or not, we simply look at any given situation. Has it changed, or has it remained the same. This may be gauged over a period of time and can be evaluated every month or so until the six month limit has been reached. One of the best ways to track this progress is to simply write it down. When we write things down, we tend to release our thoughts from our minds. In turn, our minds do not become as cluttered and we are able to think more freely as things are easier to process.
